A HMO is a House of Multiple Occupancy where at least three tenants live there forming more than one household.

What facilities do we share?

You share toilet, bathroom and kitchen facilities with other tenants.
If your home is a larger HMO with at least five tenants forming more than one household, you share the toilet, bathrooms and kitchen.

A household is either a single person or members of the same family who live together.
A family includes people who are married or living together, including same sex relationships.
Relatives include grandparents, uncles, siblings, step parents and stepchildren.
Large HMOs need a licence.

Yes, it is possible to have your own en-suite in a HMO which gives you privacy and convenience.
It allows tenants to have their own personal area, no waiting for communal bathrooms or sharing with other people.
There is less wear and tear and it is much easier to keep clean.
